A passionate team of local storytellers, explorers, and culture lovers dedicated to sharing the real Sri Lanka with the world.

Who We Are

Born from a Love of This Island — Your Sri Lanka Tours Experts

Trip Travel Sri Lanka was founded in 2014 by a group of local guides, photographers, and travel writers who believed that Sri Lanka deserved to be shown in its fullest, most authentic light. We were tired of seeing tourists miss the hidden waterfall behind the resort, the grandmother who makes the best lamprais in Colombo, the deserted beach only the fishermen know about.

Today we are a team of 15 passionate individuals — guides, writers, photographers, and logistics experts — all united by one mission: to help you experience Sri Lanka the way we do. Deeply. Authentically. Unforgettably.

What Drives Us

Our Core Values — Responsible Sri Lanka Tours

🤝
Authentic Connection
We believe travel is about people, not just places. Every experience we curate brings you closer to local communities, traditions, and stories that rarely make it into guidebooks.
🌿
Responsible Tourism
We are committed to protecting Sri Lanka's natural ecosystems and cultural heritage. A portion of every booking goes directly to local conservation and community development projects.
Exceptional Quality
From our carefully vetted accommodations to our hand-picked local guides, we hold every aspect of your journey to an exceptionally high standard so you can travel with total confidence.

Essential Sri Lanka Itinerary & Planning Tips

01
Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka
Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka — Seasons, Safaris & Whale Watching
Sri Lanka has two distinct monsoon seasons — knowing the best time for a leopard safari in Yala, whale watching in Mirissa, or the elephant gathering in Minneriya makes all the difference.
  • West & South Coast + Hill Country: December to March (dry season). Best for beaches, Colombo, Kandy.
  • East Coast + Cultural Triangle: April to September. Arugam Bay surf, Trincomalee beaches.
  • Shoulder seasons (Oct–Nov, Apr): Quieter, greener, and cheaper — if you're flexible about rain.
02
Entry Requirements
Visas & Entry
Most nationalities require an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to enter Sri Lanka.
  • Apply online via the official government portal at least 48–72 hours before departure.
  • Tourist ETA is valid for 30 days (extendable to 90 days in-country).
  • ETA costs approximately USD $35–50 depending on nationality.
  • Some nationalities (India, Maldives, Singapore, Indonesia) receive free ETA or visa-on-arrival.
03
Getting Around
Transport in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is small enough to navigate easily but has varied transport options:
  • Train: The Kandy–Ella scenic railway is unmissable. Book observation car seats in advance.
  • Tuk-tuks: Ideal for short local journeys. Always agree on price before boarding.
  • Private driver: Best for comfort and flexibility. Typically $50–80/day all-in.
  • Buses: Extensive network and very cheap, but crowded and slow.
04
Money Matters
Budget & Money Tips
Sri Lanka suits every budget — from backpackers to luxury travellers.
  • Budget: $30–50/day (guesthouses, local food, public transport)
  • Mid-range: $80–150/day (boutique hotels, private driver, restaurants)
  • Luxury: $200+/day (heritage hotels, private tours, fine dining)
  • ATMs available in all towns. Carry small cash for rural areas and local markets.
05
Culture & Etiquette
Temples, Customs & Respect
Sri Lanka is a deeply spiritual country. A little respect goes a long way:
  • Always remove shoes before entering temples, mosques, and many homes.
  • Dress modestly: cover shoulders and knees at religious sites. Carry a sarong.
  • Never pose with your back to a Buddha statue for photos — it's considered deeply disrespectful.
  • Ask permission before photographing local people.
06
Health, Safety & Eco Travel
Staying Safe, Healthy & Travelling Sustainably in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is generally very safe for tourists, but take sensible precautions:
  • Drink bottled or filtered water only — never tap water.
  • Apply high-SPF sun protection, especially at coastal and highland areas.
  • Use insect repellent in the evenings — dengue fever is present in some areas.
  • Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended.
